How to structure a 4 day workweek as a design and build company? Would you ever consider a 4 day workweek? Did you know Gen Z is looking for a 4-day workweek? This is what we are in the process of implementing at our company. We have an amazing team and if productivity goes up with a 4 day workweek, we are doing this! We want to make sure we are ahead of the curb and retain our star team.
In a recent training we have learned that a 4-day workweek can be a great way to increase employee satisfaction, productivity, and work-life balance. So we asked ourself, How can we structure a 4 day workweek as a design and build company? Is it even possible?
Here's a possible way to structure a 4-day workweek for a design and build company:
Day 1 (Monday): Planning and Administration
On Mondays, focus on planning and administration tasks to start the week off on the right foot. This can include:
Project planning and scheduling
Budget review and analysis
Team meetings to review progress and discuss any new issues or challenges
Administrative tasks such as invoicing, payroll, and other paperwork
Day 2-3 (Tuesday-Wednesday): Design and Build
These two days should be dedicated to design and build activities, including:
Client meetings to discuss design ideas, review progress, and provide updates
Design work, including sketches, CAD drawings, and 3D models
Materials sourcing and procurement
Construction and fabrication work
Quality control and testing to ensure that everything meets the highest standards
Day 4 (Thursdays): Wrap-up and Marketing
On Thursdays, focus on wrapping up any unfinished work from the week and starting to promote your company's projects and services. This can include:
Finishing any remaining design or build tasks
Evaluating progress and preparing for next week's work
Marketing activities such as social media posts, email newsletters, and website updates to showcase your recent work
Networking opportunities, such as attending industry events, meeting with potential clients, and reaching out to suppliers and vendors.
With this structure, it's important to ensure that each day has clear goals and priorities, so that employees can stay focused and productive for the entire week. By doing so, your design and build company can maximize productivity and achieve even more success in a shorter amount of time.
What do you think? Would you work with a company that has a 4 day workweek? If this is something you might be interested in, give us a call and maybe we can partner together in design or building.
