Custom Kitchen Remodel: 3-8 months without a kitchen for the kitchen you want.
HGTV shows and culture show only the good and easy parts of this process.
Five years ago, I undertook my very first kitchen remodel, leading it from start to finish. I was anxious right from the beginning, and I might have underestimated the whole project! 😅 Since then, with the Xtra Mile team, we've completed more than 45 kitchen remodels, and every project has its own set of challenges.
A surprising fact: a good majority of my trade partners didn't have active emails before 2020. In my town, new tech has arrived, and we are adopting it to help educate and change the communication culture, but we're still learning to adopt it.
Kitchens and master bathrooms are the most challenging projects in an existing house due to the planning and associated risks, including electrical work, plumbing, and load-bearing walls.
Our clients have to endure 3 to 8 months without being able to use their kitchen space. Imagine not being able to cook or do the dishes for that long! 🤦♂️
As time goes on, the initial excitement wears off, especially when you see slow progress during rough-ins; the wait can feel like an eternity.
The work involves coordination among about 35 people, and flexibility is key because construction often encounters changes and delays.
On top of all this, we're juggling other clients throughout the process.
We take pride in how much we transform a space, but our true hope is that the space, in turn, transforms how a family connects and creates lasting memories - moments of family gatherings, celebrating special occasions, discussing school, college, etc.
We understand that the project is worth it. The cherished memories that last a lifetime.
A special thank you to your family for entrusting us with this journey. We're delighted with the outcome, but we're even more excited about the future your remodeled space holds for your family.
