Embracing autumn in your home

As the leaves begin to change colors and fall, we have a visual reminder of the seasons changing outside of our homes. In the same way, we can also embrace autumn in our homes in simple and intentional ways. Even if you don’t live in Minnesota, the changing rhythms of the fall can help you usher in a new season in your home.

Today, we’re sharing three ways you can embrace autumn in your home that will help you enjoy your space more and create more memories with your family.

Fall Closet Clean Out

Within your home, fall is a great time to take inventory of your closets, down to the nitty gritty details. Choose a closet each day that you have time, and take everything out of it so you can visually see what’s really in your home.

Make separate piles for things you want to keep, get rid of, or donate to someone else who could use the items. Before placing anything back into your closet, ask yourself if you’ve used it in the last year or so. If not, the chances that you will use it in the near future are pretty low. Instead, someone else could be blessed by your donation and use it in their home!

Next, take the time to clean out your closet with a damp rag so that everything going back into the closet will feel clean. This is a great way to care for your home and ensure the spaces you don’t see everyday are still being taken care of!

Take Note of What Needs to Change

As you enter a new season, perhaps your calendar also looks different. Maybe you have another child in your home that you didn’t have last fall. Or you are now an empty-nester ready to host your grown children when they come into town.

We encourage you to take note of what spaces in your home could be better utilized. Is your living room feeling really cramped? Does your kitchen lack the storage space you need? Are you craving an addition to your home so everyone can spread out a little more?

Once you identify what your goals are for your home, it may be time to think about remodeling your home or specific rooms within it. We’d love to connect with you to walk you through our process and help answer any questions you have about a home remodel!

Enjoy the Slower Pace

Finally, as the crisp mornings come and you settle into shorter days, take time to enjoy the slower pace that the autumn season brings. Try cooking a new soup recipe that you’ve been eyeing, going for an evening walk before the sun sets, or sipping a cup of tea in the evening.

However you choose to embrace the new season, we encourage you to enjoy your home and take the time to enjoy your space. We’re ready to help you with an updated home, either on the interior or exterior! Connect with us to learn more about the remodeling process.
